Integrity

Integrity in process serving means doing the work honestly and accurately, even when no one is watching. A process server's Return of Service is a sworn document on which the court relies to determine whether a party has been given constitutionally adequate notice.

Integrity demands that:

  • Every detail in the Return matches what actually happened.
  • Attempts are not fabricated or padded.
  • The person served is the person identified — never a substitute "close enough" person passed off as the defendant.
  • Conflicts of interest are disclosed and avoided.

A failure of integrity is grounds for JBCC sanctions and may render service void.
