Level 3 Security Guard Course – Hybrid

The student will have an understanding of the legal authorities pertaining to Security Officer Commission and responsibilities and will be able to demonstrate proficiency in techniques and tactics necessary to carry out duties as a Commissioned Security Officer.

Pursuant to TAC 35.141 the Level II / III / IV Training Course and test is required of all* non-commissioned security officers, commissioned security officers and personal protection officers. This training course must either be administered by a licensed Level III or Level IV Training School and taught by a licensed Level III or Level IV Instructor, or it may be administered by a licensed guard company and taught by a representative or employee of the company.

*Certain Peace Officers may be exempt per TAC 35.141(b)

NOTE: This course is the hybrid version of the entire course. The lecture is given by a Licensed Level III/IV instructor via video conference/webinar and the practicals and Firearms Qualification is given in person by a Level III/IV instructor.

Armed Security Guard (Level III & IV) License Requirements in Texas

  • The applicant must be 21 years or older. However, training can be taken by those 18 and older.
  • The applicant must have a high school diploma or the equivalency.
  • The applicant must have the right to work in the U.S. and provide tax information from the IRS.
  • The applicant cannot have any prior felonies.

All students of a Level III training school shall be tested with the most current version examination prepared by and obtained from the Commission. The passing grade of all written examinations shall be a minimum of 75% correct answers. The passing rate for firearms qualification shall be a minimum of 70%.

May also be used to satisfy company protocols of their officers firearm standards.

Course will be given by a licensed Level III instructor and a certificate of completion will be provided upon passing the written exam.
